The NARA Climate Community Biochar Project is a community-led climate and food security initiative operating in an arid region of Kenya that is also home to one of the world’s largest refugee communities.
By combining biochar production with agroforestry, the project restores degraded land, strengthens local livelihoods, and delivers durable carbon removal.
Led by local and refugee communities in Turkana, Kenya, the project increases food security and income while turning invasive biomass into a long-term climate solution.
